Peer supporters
If you’re having a pēpi, or your pēpi is already here, Helensville Breastfeeding Peer Supporters are here for you!
Breastfeeding Peer Supporters (also called Breastfeeding Peer Counsellors) are volunteers trained by our Lactation Consultants and are mums too. They can provide fact-based research and guidance around overcoming common barriers and breastfeeding challenges. They can support you via Facebook, text, phone, email, at HBC coffee mornings, and sometimes home visits.
Breastfeeding is a learned art, and mothers are known to have better breastfeeding experiences when they are given informed support from friends.
You may come across a challenge during your breastfeeding journey. That’s why our Peer Supporters offer you friendly encouragement so you can get through these hurdles and experience the joys and benefits of a confident and responsive breastfeeding journey.
You can request to join our private and supportive Facebook group: Helensville Breastfeeding Support here.
