Lead Maternity Carers
A number of Midwives work in the Helensville and Northwest Auckland area and are available to be your Lead Maternity Carer (LMC) throughout your pregnancy, birth and the few weeks after baby's arrival.
While an independent midwife is the most common LMC, you could also choose a specialist obstetrician, and a small number of GPs also offer their services as LMCs.
It's best to get in touch with a Midwife as soon as possible in your pregnancy. They'll organise your maternity care including blood tests, ultrasound scans and any specialist referrals that are necessary. Midwives are able to support you to birth wherever you choose, be that at home, at the Helensville Birthing Centre, or at hospital. The following midwives all have a relationship with us, so are able to use our facilities to support birthing women.
LMCs are fully funded by the government, so there is no fee for using them.
Midwives are able to help you deliver wherever you choose, be that a home-delivery, at the Helensville Birthing Centre, or at hospital.
The Midwives listed below all have a relationship with us, so are able to use our facilities to help their clients give birth.

Peer Supporters
If you are having a baby, or your baby is already here, Helensville Breastfeeding Peer Supporters are here for you!
Breastfeeding Peer Supporters (also called Breastfeeding Peer Counsellors) are volunteers who provide non-judgmental information and support on the normal course of breastfeeding, overcoming common barriers and breastfeeding challenges. They are available for support via Facebook, text, phone, email, at HBC coffee mornings and sometimes home visits.
Breastfeeding is a learned art, and mothers are known to have better breastfeeding experiences when they are given informed support from friends
Peer Supporters are not medical professionals, but are volunteers trained to provide information and support with common challenges to the normal course of breastfeeding.
